B Co 2/47 Barracks
Ahhhh... the barracks. A home away from home. This becomes evident in about the 4th week, when everyone refers to "going home" as going back to the barracks. There are many basic training barracks on Fort Leonard Wood, all very well-kept courtesy YOU and others like you. The sleeping quarters are arranged generally with 8 privates per room, though the smaller rooms on the end house either 3 or 4. It is surprising, actually, just how little time you spend here. Most of the week is spent elsewhere, excepting Sunday. Sunday morning is reserved for personal time in the barracks as well as religious services.

You will, of course, be required to maintain the barracks. There is a substantial amount of floor sweeping, bunk making, wall locker straightening, and waxing/buffing, not to mention dusting and latrine (bathroom) duties. All in all, for the amount of time you do spend in the barracks, sleeping and cleaning constitute a large part of it. And of course, the barracks are the place you will meet and get to know your fellow soldiers... your "battles". Dry Fire by the Barracks Barracks Mid-Day
