Hey there recruits, fellow soldiers and civilians alike. It's been nearly four years since I've made a single addition or deletion from this site... I had my reasons, mainly a busy college schedule and hectic, constantly evolving life progressing to the present. Alot has changed for me, both personally and militarily.
I now play euphonium in the 312th US Army Reserve Band out of Lawrence, KS. In February we went to El Salvador and Nicaragua, Central America to provide esprit de corps and public relations support for the soldiers and populace in the region. In short, the trip was outstanding, a great experience, and a lot of fun too! Additionally, a small ensemble (myself included) recently traveled to Atlanta, GA for a September 11th commemorative service at USARCOM on Fort McPherson, the headquarters of the US Army Reserve. That was both powerful and moving, an event of which I am proud to have been a part.
In the weeks and months to come, I will be revamping this site, revitalizing and adding a much more personal feel, plus experimenting with new venues of interest to persons facing Basic Training and the military, as well as broader life in general. I will keep the Basic Training information intact as it has been, but will supplement it with the observations and exhortations from my present spot in life, a bit farther down the road.
Revisit often to find out more, thanks for visiting, and take care.
Sincerely,
Dan Smith
Sgt, US Army Reserve
