I had K.P. all day yesterday- that was definitely a grueling experience. I was dishwasher- there was about a mile of stainless steel sink to wipe down after each meal as well. The breaks were not very restful- Drill Sergeant Gibson was being a "slave-driver". We wiped seats and windows, walls and floors, etc. A 16 hour shift- hopefully I will not have K.P. again for the rest of the time I am here.

Speaking of the time I will be here remaining- only 4 weeks and 2 days until I see my family again, at graduation. That's 30 days, including today. THIS I can handle. Plus, today is a Sunday, which means it doesn't really count as a day left.

Yesterday was rainy, but today seems like it will be sunny. Yep, today will probably be alright.

Range Diagram

The ranges- let me tell you about the ranges. We've been to 3 different firing ranges now in order to do our BRM (Basic Rifle Marksmanship) training. Each range is set up similarly- a long row of foxholes and/or prone supported/unsupported firing areas (i.e. holes and no holes) with a long stretch of blank ground with targets at varying distances. Usually at the very back of the range is a cluster growth of short, bush-like trees. There is a tower in the center of the line of foxholes from which commands are issued via dozens of speakers. The movements on the range are very controlled, as they should be considering there are commonly 100+ privates with live ammo and fully-functioning M16A2 Assault Rifles.

I explain this so thoroughly mainly to ensure y'all I will not be killed on the range, most likely. It's a very safe place.

Our roadmarches have been interesting as well- we've had two 5K roadmarches, and tommorrow we will embark upon an 8K roadmarch. Eventually we will work our way up to a 15K roadmarch. Wednesday I think we're marching 10K.
