It's almost 9, so my "free" light is about to depart. For our incredibly relaxed day we ate breakfast, watched "The Peacemaker", ate lunch, watched "Mousehunt" and "The Edge", ate dinner, had an improv talent show, formation, and then back to the barracks.
Made an interesting discovery today- Rostrum, the short kid with the military family history, is really into astrophysics and mathematics. I never would have thought that. Also met a guy named Miller today, an Active Duty Band person from Northern California- plays bass (string) as primary instrument. That makes a total of about 4 or 5 other music MOSs in the platoon I've found so far. That's great- the drill sergeant can't pick on me exclusively, at least.
Not so much concretely related to the day's events, pre-basic and likely basic as well have reinforced my ideas about silence. People tend to avoid silence, often when alone and almost always when in a group. Silence is a nurturer though, a strong and predominant force. It's the ground state, a place of sanity and introspection.. [lights went out]
